An original audio-visual performance from Ouroboros, ‘Tide’ comprises choreography, sound design and projected visuals. An exploration of time as duration; investigating the conflict and flux between stasis and kinesis. Visual artists Jeremy Carne and Nikolas Kasinos explore three axioms of time: past, present and future, in an attempt to analyse and represent its form, through the development of a movement practice and by using the nature of repetition and time-based media as their tools.
‘Tide’ creates an environment where ‘the effect’ of time becomes perceptible and the correlation between memory and experience is investigated through movement. By observing the tide one becomes aware not only of duration in nature, but of repetition and eternal recurrence. How can one feel the duration of a moment, experience the constant passing of time, and reflect on their own existence within it? ‘Tide’ seeks to make sense of this by engaging with the idea of time as spatial architecture, time as visual plane.
Ouroboros consists of Jeremy Carne (UK) and Nikolas Kasinos (CY) who are based between London and Berlin. They work with video, performance and installation mediums, frequently addressing notions of existence, identity and transformation.
