Flash Dance – mini marathon
Flash Dance is a new platform that invites artists from the field of performing arts (with movement as the basic tool) to share their ideas -that can also be in process- to an audience. In this context the duration of the presentation has to be up to 10’ and the participating artists will be involved in a dialogue and a feedback session with a group of artists from different mediums that will be invited to watch the mini-marathon. The process will be open also to the audience.
Flash Dance is organized by Dance House Lemesos in collaboration with the Center of Performing Arts MITOS as part of theYard.Residency.17.
GENERAL INFO AND CRITERIA
– The artist that fulfill the criteria will participate at Flash Dance. There is no selection process
– The participants will not receive any fee for their presentation
– Free entrance for the public to attend Flash Dance
– Flash Dance will on the 10th of June 2017 at Old Vinegar
– The presented idea should not be longer than 10 minutes
– Minimal technical support (basic lighting options/sound system/linoleum floor)
– The participants will receive a video recording of their work
– The open call is for upcoming or mature artists

Magdalene’s project – theatre

5 women narrate their story. Stories inspired by the women’s shelters know as “Magdalenes’ laundries ” where women were imprisoned for exemplification. A society that considered their sexuality as a sin, accused them of being unethical. Female sexuality is consider as delinquent when it goes beyond what society allows. Not just in Ireland back then, but in every society today.
The performance is the result of a weekly workshop devised theater based on raw materials, historical documents, personal stories and it is a work in progress.
