The mosaic is a central feature of Pafos and – with its bigger pictures composed of many small elements – a metaphor for the multicultural character of the city. For the project The Big Mosaic people from various clubs and associations record stories of their lives and their backgrounds, their families, their passed-on memories, and basically everything that constitutes tradition and biography.
An exhibition of the works by 18 artists inspired by ten of these narrations will be presented, with the visitors having access to the original audio recording of the stories via an interactive screen.

This exhibition brings together stories of different people, people of a different origin who speak different languages which will be expressed through different techniques and art forms. In a convolution of voices, forms and colours, the idea of Pafos as a “big mosaic” is highlighted.
Additionally, a short documentary on the making-of The Big Mosaic will be shot, and a catalogue with the works accompanied by short texts by the artists and the people who have participated with their stories will be published.
Participating artists: Yiannos Economou, Charalambos Margaritis, Yiannis Sakellis, Alexander Gautier, Marios Fylaktou, Constantinos Papageorgiou and Stelios Hatzicostas. Curator: Charalambos Margaritis.
