The Fairytale Museum invites you to the engraving exhibition of the Cypriot engraver Hambis Tsangaris titled "The Kalikantzaroi ...". The exhibition includes thirty silk prints of the artist on the theme of the Kalikantzaroi, inspired by stories that seventy people from all over Cyprus had told to him. The engraver had published these stories in a two-volume work, titled "The Kalikantzaroi and the Paximin". The exhibition is accompanied by texts and stories presenting to the audience the rich tradition of the Kalikantzaroi.
Kallikantzaroi are believed to be malevolent goblins, dwell underground but come to the surface during the twelve days of Christmas, from 25 December to 6 January (from the winter solstice for a fortnight during which time the sun ceases its seasonal movement).
The inauguration of the exhibition will be held by the honorable Mayor of Lefkosia, Mr. Konstantinos Yiorkatzis.
