Rena Vlachopoulou and her lot, Mimis Plessas’ music and the picturesque 1970s in Crete and Rhodes are just some of the ingredients of this all-time classic film that completes the summer cinema circle of Faneromeni 17, the Arts Festival that has changed our summer nights.
This time, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, “Lefkosiazo” Network of Volunteers and the Municipality of Nicosia present the comedy “My Hippy Aunt”. In it we watch Leni, the moneyless cleaning lady of a big hotel, getting into daily brawls with the alarm and the mop in order to pay for her daughter’s studies in the US. At the same time, the daughter, who’s been living abroad for years, thinks her mother is a wealthy high society lady. One day Leni receives a letter from her daughter saying she’s coming back to Greece with her fiancé and his father! So what now? Thankfully, a rich hotel guest takes it upon himself to turn the poor cleaning lady to a grande dame… as they make their way through improbable and hilarious developments…
