Doros Heracleous presents his new series of works of art entitled ‘Aesthetic Utilisation’ at Kypriaki Gonia Gallery, from Wednesday 15 June - 30 September 2016.
In an ambience of shapes, colours and objects in new visions and fresh contexts in novel layouts, with additions and deletions, the artist welcomes us to his ornate world, aesthetically utilised and recurrent, according to the dictates of his own mood and aspects of the prevailing atmosphere.
His patterns perforate and reflect our repeated acts. They mirror our personal microcosm, in a playful escape from our everyday communication with objects, always relating to our experiential and internal world. The colours give life to and at the same time activate the reality of every image. In general the experience can be characterised as a stimulus of experiences from the past. "Colour is life itself, it gives life," as the artist stresses.
These are works that denote and impact once again upon the artist’s identity and artistic style. This is his personal characteristic, using aluminium as a predominant material to create and expand his research. Indestructible in time, supple and rigid, careless yet robust, compact, like the indestructible values of life.
His creations are flat, embossed outside and within the context, structures that are two-dimensional and three-dimensional, compositions and engraved narratives in aluminium leaves, that sometimes exude the romance of past eras, allowing us to dream and travel to other worlds and other times - bringing us down to the reality of life.
Doros is a completely non-conventional artist. A figurative artist that exceeds limits and rules because he is an artist who seeks and experiments continuously with the materials. These materials could be noble metals like aluminium, or old objects bearing the weight of time and hence give capabilities of aesthetic utilization, either this means the colour or any other material. Doros Erakleous tries το exhaust all possibilities for aesthetic utilization and artistic expression that he could derive from each material. This dynamic relation of the artist and his material is precisely what gives to his work and to each separate piece of work a particular interest from the side of theoretical reflection for nature and the ontology of the work of art.
