Within the Festival of New Music of the Centre of Cypriot Composers.
The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s concert series “Cypriots’ Sounds” will open the 7th Festival of New Music organized by the Centre of Cypriot Composers, and will present the world premieres of contemporary orchestral works composed especially for the occasion by composer-members of the Centre. The collaboration of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra with the Centre significantly enhances this established Festival which in previous years presented only works for small instrumental ensembles. The rest of the programme of the Festival of New Music will feature the Nieuw Ensemble from the Netherlands, the “Chronos” Ensemble from Cyprus, the Centre’s electroacoustic music ensemble as well as the Dutch composer Joël Bons, who will present a series of lectures. The main objective of the Centre of Cypriot Composers is to promote remarkable compositions, giving priority to new works, whilst its key concern is to maintain diversity and variety in the manners of musical expression.
