Olive trees and Mediterranean: a unique harmonious coexistence, perfectly connected and identified for centuries create a special culture, the culture of the Olive Tree, a part of the Mediterranean Culture.
The olive trees coexist with humans in almost all Neolithic settlements of the eastern Mediterranean, including Cyprus. Thus, the existence of monumental olive trees, due to age or natural characteristics, is expected.
Paramali village, which was a royal estate during the Venetian times, has been blessed with a very large number of centuries-old olive trees, which are a point of reference and cultural heritage for the village, and a source of inspiration for the festival that will honour them, emphasizing their value, as well as the unique olive oil that, which apart from being a key ingredient of the Mediterranean diet, was also the first cosmetic in the world.
The Ancient Olive Tree Festival, which will be held under the auspices of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Dr Maria Panagiotou, opens festively at 11.00, hosts 25 exhibitors, 4 experiential workshops for children, olive oil tasting, rich local gastronomy, and a musical program with dances and Vasiliki Hatziadamou at 17.00.
